When Alex first mentioned about this event, I spoke to Mong whether he was interested in attending it. He was game, as we had been contemplating authorship or to be more precise - writing for quite some time even though we had nothing in print as yet. He has been to a function in Mid-Valley Mall about self-publishing. Last year he did mention about a convention of writers at MPH, One-Utama but I could not make it.
On 30th December 2006, with the family and Mong, we drove to Ikano. The kids went to see “Eragon” at Cineleisure while the missus when to see “Curse of the Golden Flower”. I and Mong talked shop over teh-tarik at Kayu’s. How time flies. Grabbing a quick lunch at MacDonald’s, we went to the venue of the book launch - Popular Book Shop. We were early birds as the co-writers were trooping in and exchanging greetings. Alex was bubbling all over and in full hugging mode, I think.
The organizer of the book launch, in a yellow dress addressed us and then read her editorial. Pretty thing! I told Mong she looks a bit like Elaine Daly. We came to know that she is Carrie-Anne Theseira, a former air stewardess. A few co-writers went up and read excerpts from the short stories. They had a photograph session. Then books were bought and autographed.
I introduced Alexandra to my family members and Mong. We did speak to Carrie-Anne and about her plans to have another book project.
We then bade farewell and goodbye and headed for IKEA.

PC, even though you already had said you'd turn up, I still had my doubts. But you gladdened my heart when you came up and introduced myself, and told me you'd brought the family and Mong to boot.
Writing is a long, lonely road. Today, it hit me that on a bad month, I'm earning probably less than a Starbucks barista.
I've been fortunate to meet lots of kind samaritans bearing signposts and torches along the way. I don't think I would have lasted this long otherwise.
Thank you for being there again, PC.
Buns,
I am sure there are many ways to skin a cat and still keep your love for writing.
Think about it.
